New rules announced for London HGVs

Transport for London has announced new regulations aimed at protecting cyclists and pedestrians for HGVs.

From September 1st, all lorries on the capital’s non-motorway roads must be fitted with side guards (to stop cyclists from being dragged under the wheel) and class V and VI mirrors to improve visibility.

FORS logo

FORS accredited operators are encouraged to remove the old Transport for London FORS logo from their vehicle/s and replace it with the new logo which is available electronically from FORS online.

The updated FORS logo is available to download free of charge as a print ready pdf and shows your unique FORS ID number and accreditation level.

Tyne and Wear FORS Practitioner Workshops


Tyne and Wear FORS is continuing to provide a series of funded half day workshops designed to assist you in improving the safety and efficiency of your operation. If you deliver into the Tyne and Wear area you are encouraged to attend.

The workshops are for FORS registered companies, however non FORS registered operators can attend the Going for Bronze workshop, which will give an insight into attaining FORS bronze and the benefits of the scheme. We strongly recommend registering if you are considering joining FORS.

HGV operations in London

The UK’s Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) are carrying out research into HGV operations in London, with the aim of improving the safety of HGVs, HGV drivers and other road users. As part of that research an online survey is being carried out.
