Plan ahead for London routes this summer

london skylineFORS accredited operators who will be working in London may find it useful to check their routes this summer as London is set to host a number of events over the next few months, such as the Notting Hill Carnival, Prudential RideLondon and London Triathlon. This may mean road closures and increased congestion in certain areas.

Alongside this, the work related to the Road Modernisation Plan (RMP), a £4bn investment to modernise London’s road network, will step up over the quieter summer months.

2015 summer budget

BudgetIn yesterday’s budget George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, delivered what he described as ‘a budget for working people’. Osborne stated that the long term UK economic plan is working and that the UK economy is fundamentally stronger and growing faster than any other developed country.

Alexandra Palace chosen for inaugural Freight in the City Expo

freight in the cityThe inaugural Freight in the City Expo will take place at London’s Alexandra Palace this autumn.

“We have selected Alexandra Palace as the venue for the first Freight in the City Expo because it offers a fantastic exhibition space large enough for articulated trucks to drive straight into and it has great links to the M1, M25 and North Circular,” said Laura Hailstone, project manager of Freight in the City, which is organised by Motor Transport publisher Road Transport Media.

Free tool can help you meet FORS incident and collision reporting requirement

collisionDon’t forget to use the Collision Reporting and Analysis toolkit available to help you manage, report and analyse road traffic collisions in a consistent way.  Initially created for construction based operators, the toolkit is equally applicable to all types of fleet operations.

The toolkit can be used independently to establish or update a company’s collision reporting policy and practice, but is also designed to be used in conjunction with the CLOCS Manager online collision reporting tool. FORS companies are encouraged to register and actively input data to the free-to-use online database as it allows you to capture, log, report, analyse and investigate collisions and identify lessons learned.
