Majhail Transport

Majhail Transport

Majhail Transport is a sub-contractor that transports aggregates and asphalt materials for Aggregates Industries, Southampton & Kent (aggregates suppliers). Established in 2012, the company has seen significant improvements in the MPG delivered by their fleet and reduction in carbon emissions since implementing the FORS standard.

Teja Singh Majhail, director of Majhail Transport explains how FORS has been beneficial to their company.

We came across FORS when tendering for work in the outer London region. We began by viewing the benefits FORS had to offer to businesses and found that they were suitable for our business needs. We did further research and looked at how other businesses were also benefiting from the FORS standard by viewing the case studies on the FORS website. We then began to practice procedures in order to improve fuel efficiency.

FORS provided with us with the fitting tools to achieve both Bronze and Silver accreditations first time. Both attempts were straight-forward and allowed us to collect all business data and identify areas of our business that needed to be improved.

3Once we went Silver, we took advantage of the performance management toolkit to achieve our target of improving miles per gallon offered from our fleet. The toolkit was extremely useful for helping us with our filing system and improving policies and procedures we have in place here at Majhail Transport.

“The FORS toolkit has enabled us to collect, monitor and file all business data efficiently“. –  Teja Singh Majhail

The FORS toolkit has also helped us ensure our vehicles are fitted with the latest up-to-date safety equipment that enables our drivers to become aware of other road users.

“Our drivers are much more confident since having completed the training courses provided by FORS, especially cycle safety!” – Teja Singh Majhail

Our decision to progress towards the Gold accreditation was influenced by the noticeable changes and improvements that had been made since going for both Bronze and Silver.

In the last 12 months, we have increased our annual KMPL by 96% thanks to FORS.

Dec 2016 – Feb 2017 0.78

Majh4ail Transport takes health and the wellbeing of staff very seriously. We ensure we collect relevant information and data from all employees about their health and fitness and ensure a valid doctors note is provided to prove they are fit to work. When recruiting new drivers, we work hard to ensure they are actively engaged in training programs we offer. Majhail Transport provides a 2-week buddy plan that allows new drivers to adapt to working conditions.

Thanks to the FORS toolkit, drivers are aware of measures that can be taken to reduce noise. Drivers are much more aware of switching engines off when idle for a long period of time, therefore, reducing noise pollution. For the type of work Majhail Transport carries out, there are currently no alternative transports available. The type of work that we carry out, A PTO system is required and insulated bodies, to store and transport materials at high temperatures.

To make continuous improvements, we will ensure our vehicles are updated with latest safety equipment and replaced every ten years.

Going for the Gold accreditation will improve Majhail Transports Likeliness of securing existing and new contracts. Our drivers have improved their knowledge and understanding through the provided training material thanks to FORS and are much confident driving both on and off the job. We will continue to implement FORS standard to ensure we are operating at our full potential!
