Paramount Haulage Ltd, based in New Cross supply tippers lorries to demolition and construction companies in the Greater London Area. We are involved in the removal of waste and supply of aggregates. Norbert Walsh, the Transport Manager and Director explains how Paramount Haulage Ltd by joining FORS increased our awareness to road safety, the safety of vulnerable road users and monitoring fuel usage helped to reduce are carbon footprint.

paramount 2We were introduced to FORS when we started working on some of the Crossrail projects in the West End during 2008 and we realised it would benefit us by promoting the safety of vulnerable road users, road safety, fuel efficiency and to reducing our environmental impact.

After registering with FORS we started preparing all the policies, systems and documentation required for the FORS Bronze audit allowing us to pass first time.

Once the FORS Bronze standard was achieved we started working on the FORS Silver standard along with getting systems in place to progress to the Gold standard.

‘The safety of vulnerable road users is of the utmost importance and reducing our carbon footprint within our industry.’

Our most important improvement was increased road safety awareness followed by reducing our environmental impact. Paramount Haulage Ltd has focused heavily on this through the Safe Urban Driving module, FORS online driver modules, regular in-house toolbox talks, fuel monitoring and financial investment in the purchase of new vehicles. This also has the added benefit of reducing driver incidents, maximising fuel performance and reduced insurance costs.
