SDJ Transport Ltd – Going For Gold

SDJ Transport Ltd is a haulage company that specializes in transporting aggregates for construction companies across London. Established in 2012, the company’s infrastructure has grown and improved significantly since being introduced to FORS.

Constantin Nuta, director of SDJ Transport Ltd explains how FORS has been beneficial to their company.

We came across FORS when tendering for work in London. Having considered the benefits FORS had  to offer, we immediately began to implement procedures to improve MPG per vehicle.

sdj 1Delivering to local construction projects across London means that we are required to adhere to FORS standards. Since attaining the bronze and silver accreditation, the improvements made have been very much noticeable. By implementing new procedures, we have been able to measure fuel usage. FORS was very helpful by providing the required training and tools to achieve both accreditation’s first time.

The performance management toolkit has been extremely useful and allowed us to set targets to improve the MPG of our vehicle, reduce emissions and upgrade vehicle safety. We have minimised engine idling times, installed proximity sensors, left turn audible warning system and side mounted rear-view cameras in each vehicle to help achieve these targets.

‘We appreciate the need to be FORS accredited as part of our contractual obligation The FORS standard has also allowed us to reduce costs and allocate the savings to help improve other areas of our business.’ – Constantin

We have also seen a huge improvement in vehicle maintenance and road safety thanks to the training we have been able to provide our drivers with. This training material provided by FORS has improved their knowledge, understanding and improved their confidence on the road. This has been a huge advantage to us of implementing the FORS standards.

‘We have increased our quarterly KMPL by 6.66% thanks to FORS.’

Going for the Gold accreditation has significantly improved our daily operations and will help attract new and keep existing clients.

We will continue to provide all members of staff with the latest training material, to preserve road safety and maintenance costs.
