Groundforce Shorco, is one of the UK’s leading construction industry suppliers of trenching and shoring equipment, running from 17 strategically placed depots, providing both the UK and Ireland. Our equipment offering is supported by a highly trained team of qualified engineers, technical representatives and regional higher staff. We have an enviable reputation for quality and service whilst ensuring we meet our environmental obligations. Dean Coe our Regional Hire Manager has been elected our Fuel and Emissions Champion and below he explains the importance of FORS to VP Plc Groundforce.
We initially came across FORS whilst tendering for work. Once we looked into the benefits of the scheme, for Vulnerable Road Users and the environment we quickly realised that the benefits of joining FORS would not only enhance our ability to gain work but also fitted in with the company ethos of improving safety and reducing our environmental impact, whilst also improving fuel efficiency.
As the environment, welfare and safety, of not only our own employees but also the general public, especially vulnerable road users, has always been a priority of VP Plc Groundforce, we achieved both our Bronze and Silver accreditations first time. We found that the knowledge we gained from FORS Training and the Practitioners course did assist us immensely in achieving these accreditations.
Once we achieved our Bronze accreditation we really started to see the benefits of the FORS scheme, our workforce recognises the importance of continual monitoring and recording of data, keeping up to date with new policies and procedures, and conveying this information to our team, also using the Performance Management Tool Kit supplied by FORS has assisted us in setting targets to help us achieve our goals in reducing carbon footprint whilst improving our MPG.
‘We found that the knowledge we gained via the FORS Training and the Practitioners course did assist us immensely in achieving these accreditations.’
We have implemented the FORS required policies and procedures into the everyday running of VP Plc, at the same time increasing our fleet from 1 vehicle to 12, and now more than ever realise the importance of keeping a tight control of our Carbon Footprint and the impact we have on the environment.
These figures prove that the new systems and procedures we have implemented are working to our advantage. As a company VP Plc Groundforce will strive to continue to benefit from the improvements the FORS scheme has helped us achieve.
