Certification body manual update

The FORS ‘Requirements for Certification Bodies’ manual has been updated and is now available to download.

The updated manual seeks to help organisations apply to FORS to become a certification body for the scheme.

Organisations must apply and adhere to the processes and requirements set out in the updated manual which should be read in conjunction with the FORS Standard.

A summary of the changes to the auditor specification are set out in the table below:

Hold a Transport Manager Qualification Hold an industry recognised Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence qualification for a minimum period of two years
Complete an industry recognised Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence qualification refresher training at least every five years
Practical experience of working in a transport environment Have a practical experience of working in a transport environment for a minimum period of two years
Undertake auditor training Have two years’ experience in the transport industry prior to auditing
Complete recognised FORS auditor training
Undertake basic FORS refresher training if no audit has been completed within the previous six-month period
Complete recognised FORS Auditor refresher training every two years (in line with the FORS Standard revision)
Attend FORS awareness and basic refresher training as directed
FORS Practitioner Work towards being a FORS Practitioner (qualification to be achieved within two years of commencing FORS auditing)
