Common reasons for failing your Silver and/or Gold application

Are you looking to progress to Silver or Gold level? Whether it is your initial application, or a re-approval submission, make sure you read the guidelines when filling out the application forms to avoid missing important information, such as attaching your evidence.

The audit team continues to see unsuccessful applications due to failure to attach policies and supporting documents.

The table below highlights the most common reasons for failing a Silver and/or a Gold application:

  • Failure to provide evidence on the performance data sheet for LCVs when declaring LCVs and HGVs vehicles
  • Failure to properly organise LCVs and HGVs data
  • Failure to inform FORS of vehicle increase
S3 – Fuel and emissions and air quality
  • Failure to upload your policy
  • Failure to list the Fuel and Emissions Champion
S4 – Road risk
  • Failure to upload your policy
  • Failure to include evidence of insurance review
  • Failure to list the Road Risk Champion
S5 – Professional development
  • Failure for all relevant staff to undertake appropriate training
  • Failure to produce or update the professional development plan for all staff
S6 – Vehicle safety equipment
  • Failure to declare ALL vehicles and report any changes to the FORS Helpline prior to your Silver application
S7 – Noise pollution
  • Failure to carry out noise assessment
S8 – Internal communications
  • Failure to produce or upload your annual communication plan
S9 – Sub-contracted services
  • Failure to produce or upload a flow down clause
G2 – Performance data
  • Failure to provide data on the performance data for LCVs after declaring both HGVs and LCVs
G5 – Professional development
  • Failure to provide evidence of PDP for drivers/managers
  • Failure to complete safety eLearning modules
G6 – Sustainable operations
  • Failure to produce or upload Sustainable Operations Template or equivalent documents
  • Failure to complete and attached S6 Vehicle Safety Sheet to demonstrate any fleet changes declared to the FORS Helpline
