FORS will be a highly visible presence in the Northern Ireland capital later this month at Ciclovia Belfast, the free to attend community event which closes part of the city to motor vehicles to allow cyclists, and especially families, to use traffic-free roads and to encourage healthier living. Taking place on Sunday 30 October, the ‘cycle freeway’ will allow cyclists from across Belfast and beyond, of all ages and abilities, to cycle on the traffic free roads.
FORS will display a top-spec DAF XF 6×2 tractor unit kindly loaned by a FORS Gold member, Deighan Transport. Company boss, Seamus Deighan, will also be on hand to provide families with a unique opportunity to experience precisely what a truck driver sees from inside the cab, and in so doing demonstrate the dangers of approaching trucks when cycling on the road.
Peter Morrow, FORS Manager – Northern Ireland says: “FORS is dedicated to promoting best practice for commercial vehicle operators of all descriptions, ensuring that journeys are safer for all road users. Ciclovia Belfast is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with the public, particularly families, and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to help educate cyclists and other road users on the importance of safe cycling. We’ll also be demonstrating how FORS encourages drivers and fleets to strive for the highest standards of safety, efficiency and environmental protection.”
