Important reminder regarding the temporary relaxation of the on-cycle element for Safe Urban Driving and Van Smart

If you, or your drivers, have already undertaken the theory part of a Safe Urban Driving (SUD), Van Smart (VS), or a FORS Approved course, it is important to remember that the on-cycle practical element must be undertaken prior to the Silver re-approval audit in 2022.

You will have to make contact yourself with training providers licensed to deliver FORS Professional training to book this. To find out about availability and prices, please contact the training providers listed on this page. Alternatively, you can book on one of the free on-cycle practical element dates which are still available to book.

The temporary relaxation for meeting the work-related road risk (WRRR) professional development requirement S5 was first introduced in May 2020 in order to support FORS members during the coronavirus pandemic. This means that, if you wish to progress to Silver or renew your Silver accreditation, you are currently able to pass the WRRR training requirement by undertaking the theory part only of SUD or VS, with the practical on-cycle element undertaken by the time of your yearly Silver re-approval audit in 2022.
