The proposal comes as part of the Mayor’s Vision Zero ambition to eliminate transport related death and serious injury across all of London by 2041. The new regulation will see a 20mph speed limit implemented on 8.9kms of main roads including Millbank, Albert Embankment, Victoria Embankment and Borough High Street.
The consultation ran for five weeks (ending 10 July) and saw almost 2,000 responses.
As well as the new 20mph signs and road markings, TfL is set to raise the height of pedestrian crossings in seven high-risk locations which see a high number of pedestrians, such as outside the Tate Britain.
Speed cameras on all the affected TfL roads will be recalibrated to 20mph.
