Operations Manager, Jason Glynn, explains how the FORS\u00a0standard has helped the company create a positive culture of compliance, environmental\u00a0awareness, safety and efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>The company was initially introduced to FORS through client contracts more than eight\u00a0years ago and gained Bronze accreditation relatively seamlessly. Whilst initially embracing\u00a0the scheme the company proceeded to develop and enhance systems and strategies which\u00a0 reinforced the existing culture of compliance and safety of the company. By aligning\u00a0company policies and procedures with the FORS standard we quickly achieved FORS Silver\u00a0 status before gaining FORS Gold accreditation in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Since first becoming FORS members Glynn\u2019s Skips fleet renewal programme has resulted in\u00a0 significant reductions in CO2,\u00a0NOx and Particulate Matter emission outputs. Adopting this\u00a0approach has seen our current fleet of Euro VI vehicles return much improved fuel efficiency\u00a0 figures.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years the company has taken advantage of the various FORS toolkits, training and\u00a0 management systems that have been made readily available via our FORS company\u00a0dashboard. In addition, we will continue to encourage drivers to eat\u00a0healthy, participate in regular fitness activities and distribute healthy lifestyle literature\u00a0 to drivers.<\/li>\n<li>Our drivers largely come from recommendation, but we are currently reviewing ways to encourage new drivers into the industry via local schools and colleges and adding\u00a0 a recruitment section to the website.<\/li>\n<li>Although our operating centre is not in a noise sensitive area, some of the various<br \/>\nsite we deliver to can be, so we carry out toolbox talks to make drivers aware of<br \/>\nkeeping noise to an absolute minimum. Also, we are always careful in planning our<br \/>\ndeliveries to minimise disruption in the local area.<\/li>\n<li>We are continually looking at how technology is moving forward to meet the needs of the industry however there is not yet any alternatively fuel vehicles available that<br \/>\nwould meet our requirements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-66643990\" src=\"https:\/\/www.fors-online.org.uk\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/glynn-3-300x242.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"262\" height=\"212\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.fors-online.org.uk\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/glynn-3-300x242.png 300w, https:\/\/www.fors-online.org.uk\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/glynn-3-150x121.png 150w, https:\/\/www.fors-online.org.uk\/cms\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/glynn-3.png 636w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 262px) 100vw, 262px\" \/>We have continued to invest in the latest\u00a0cleaner and more fuel-efficient euro 6\u00a0vehicles that have proved a significant\u00a0improvement in reducing our fuel usage and\u00a0reducing harmful emissions.<\/p>\n<p>We will continue to develop and evolve\u00a0looking for ways to constantly improve safety\u00a0standards and reduce the emissions output\u00a0of the fleet by\u00a0investing in the latest technology on the\u00a0market.<\/p>\n<p>Glynn\u2019s skips actively encourages customers, suppliers and other companies from within the\u00a0 industry to take advantage of the benefits that FORS can bring, by advertising the brand<br \/>\nwherever possible. Ordinarily the company would also be extremely active in the community,\u00a0 engaging with schools, colleges and regional events whereby the sector and FORS would\u00a0be promoted. However, plans and events were largely disrupted due to the coronavirus<br \/>\npandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Maintaining our Gold accreditation gives our customers confidence that Glynn\u2019s Skips are<br \/>\nmaintaining, exceeding and promoting the FORS Standard within the industry.
