\"\"Section 1 – Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Allens Transport are based in Stourbridge, West Midlands operating crane offloading\u00a0 vehicles specialising in movement of portable accommodation, storage cabins, air- conditioning units and industrial machinery. Jon Allen, Managing Director explains how\u00a0 Allens have achieved improvements across the business in recent years assisted greatly by\u00a0 FORS accreditation.<\/p>\n

Section 2 \u2013 How did you hear about FORS, <\/strong>what prompted the company to join and <\/strong>how long have you been a member?\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI had heard about FORS much earlier, but it\u00a0was in late-2017 when a customer said to me\u00a0you really ought to get on board with this.\u00a0Rather than ignore this, I took it as an\u00a0instruction, did the initial research and felt it\u00a0would enable the business to improve the\u00a0framework and systems in place. The\u00a0preparation process commenced immediately, and we have been members since February\u00a0 2018\u201d.<\/p>\n

Section 3<\/strong> \u2013 What was your experience of the initial FORS Bronze audit?<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWe were a little apprehensive in the days leading up to our initial FORS Bronze audit, but on the day the auditor put us at ease, and we passed first time around\u201d<\/p>\n

Section 4 \u2013 What was your main reason(s) for you progressing (either from Bronze to\u00a0 Silver and then Silver to Gold or straight from Bronze to Gold)?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cAt that time, we had many of the requirements partially in place for FORS Silver, driven by a\u00a0 desire to manage risk and costs but it remained disjointed and inconsistent\u201d. A major turning\u00a0 point was getting the drivers on the SUD Course. This triggered the completion of fitment of\u00a0 camera systems and the remaining tasks enabling Silver Standard to be achieved during\u00a0 August 2020.<\/p>\n

Gold seemed to be the next logical step in our journey and progress was made with improvements on all fronts despite the pandemic.<\/p>\n

Section 5 \u2013<\/strong> Explain how you have made use of the benefits FORS provides? Quantify\u00a0 savings where possible <\/strong><\/p>\n

Once accredited, we really made the most of the benefits on offer, in particular the available\u00a0 E Learning modules. FORS accreditation has allowed us to maintain long standing\u00a0 relationships with some of our biggest customers. and has given us more credibility when\u00a0 tendering for new contracts and also it is a good mark of our professionalism when going for\u00a0 new work that doesn\u2019t require us to be FORS accredited.<\/p>\n

Section 6 \u2013 What improvements have you made?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Adopting the FORS systems has undoubtedly strengthened our management systems\u00a0 including training. This has in turn boosted confidence to replace a number of rigid vehicles\u00a0 with a number of flexible drawer-bar outfits which are both cost & fuel efficient and assisted\u00a0 in reducing the number of journeys- improving environmental footprint.<\/p>\n
