Over 10,000 individuals trained in FORS Professional Pedestrian Safe eLearning module

Pedestrian Safe, which seeks to educate drivers on the specific dangers that pedestrians face and how to protect them, has already been completed by over 10,000 individuals – an impressive figure as the module was only launched in January of this year.

Pedestrian Safe joins the existing suite of FORS Professional safety eLearning modules (Cycle Safety, Van Smart, Smart Driving, and Bridge Smart) meaning another option is available to drivers to meet Bronze requirement ‘D4 Professional development.’ At Bronze, drivers must have undertaken one safety eLearning module in the past 12 months and the Security and Counter Terrorism eLearning module in the past 24 months.

Whilst Bronze on-site audits and downgrades have been suspended, members who can are still encouraged to undertake training for their own professional development – this will also help with FORS accreditation in the future when auditing activities re-start. If you are renewing your Silver or Gold accreditation, don’t forget to check that the Bronze eLearning modules are still in date for all of your drivers.

Sonia Hayward, FORS manager, said, “I would encourage everyone to make the most of their membership and undertake this eLearning module if they can do so, even if they have completed their mandatory training with another safety module. It is a highly engaging module, with some very important learning points.”

Taking around 20 minutes to complete, the new, mobile-friendly training module provides the participant with a better understanding of the risks faced by pedestrians and the techniques that can be used to mitigate these risks, including:

  • Checking driving conditions
  • Avoiding incorrect assumptions
  • How to keep focused when driving

The module is also available as a PowerPoint group delivery training. As with all group delivery packs, Pedestrian Safe group delivery can be accessed via your company dashboard.
