Coronavirus update – useful information for FORS operators

Recent updates include:

  • Mandatory MOT tests for car, motorcycle and van owners in England, Scotland and Wales to be re-introduced from 1 August 2020 as COVID-19 restrictions are slowly lifted. Vehicle owners with an MOT due date before 1 August will still receive a six-month exemption
  • Driving lessons and theory tests re-started in England on 4 July 2020, with driving tests for lorries, buses and coaches to resume on Monday 13 July. Car driving tests will restart in England on Wednesday 22 July
  • Suspension of UK HGV Road User Levy for one year from 1 August 2020 to 31 July 2021
  • Flexible furlough scheme started on 1 July allowing businesses to bring furloughed employees back to work on a part-time basis. The government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will remain open until the end of October
