JCS Transport Consultancy Ltd – Promoting the Industry Standard

JCS Transport Consultancy was setup by Managing Director Jamie Campbell, a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Logistics and Transport. Jamie has over 25 year’s experience in road transport operations and is a Qualified FORS Auditor and FORS Practitioner. He has handpicked a superior team of staff who will guide and train our clients in a friendly down to earth manner to obtain the objectives set.

JCS Transport Consultancy is based in Leatherhead, Surrey and helps fleet and road transport operators stay compliant with current legislation, gain the correct type of Licence and FORS accreditation needed to keep their vehicle operations legally complaint. As a company we have only had our two vans since February 2019, so it is difficult to see significant improvements. However, through FORS and using the toolkits and training provided, we have lowered our fuel use, reduced CO2 emissions, lowered NOx and Particulate Matter emissions and have improved our road safety record. We are proud to say that we have never received a transport related fine or charge to date.

Having been a FORS auditor for several years, the benefits that I saw other operators achieving enthused me to use the FORS system, training, and support tools within my own organisation.

Having achieved our Bronze accreditation first time, I felt it was appropriate to progress to Silver and then onto Gold accreditation. I also felt it was a requirement to show our customers we believe in the FORS programme and what better way of showing it that being A FORS Gold Member ourselves.

Once accredited, we really made the most of the benefits on offer including the FORS Driver Licence Checking Service, FORS Vehicle Graphic Service and FORS Associates offers and discounts. This has been in conjunction with promoting our own services.

Being FORS accredited allows the company to understand the needs of the operators we are serving and the benefits available to them as members. Jamie Campbell FCILT Managing Director.

As can be seen we have improved fuel consumption and emissions. Please note that the company only purchased vans in February 2019, so a full year comparison is not yet available.

FORS Toolbox talks and toolkits are promoted to operators when completing pre- audit inspections. They are advised to use these products to ensure FORS and Transport Commissioner compliance. Jamie Campbell FCILT, Managing Director.

 All drivers complete a bi-annual medical declaration and eyesight

  • As a consultancy company we do not recruit drivers. However, an additional consultant has been recruited from within the FORS fraternity due to their industry
  • We have bought the latest vans and as we do not have a site only an office, noise management is not
  • We have looked at alternative vehicles but currently the vehicles with extended distances are not available and there is not a hybrid van on the market currently. This will be monitored for future

In order to make continual fleet improvements we will be looking at alternatively fuelled vehicles, we have purchased Euro VI vehicles, revising the way we monitor driver fitness and health and contracting Webfleet to monitor the fuel, emissions and driver behaviour in an effort to reduce pollution.

We have positively promoted FORS by completing FORS pre-audits, advising companies of the benefits and material available to FORS members. We actively practice what we preach.

By achieving Gold accreditation, it emphasises our own commitment to the scheme and enhances business opportunities within the transport and logistics arena.
