FORS releases road safety toolkit in support of Project EDWARD Week of Action

FORS, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme, has created a free, downloadable, road safety toolkit for its community of operators. FORS hopes that providing the simple toolkit will encourage fleet operators across the UK to champion Project EDWARD’s ‘Week of Action’ road safety initiative, which this year takes place this week from 15-19 May.

The FORS Project EDWARD Toolkit can be downloaded here: www.fors-online.org.uk/cms/project-edward-week-of-action-toolkit/

As well as background on the Project EDWARD charity, the toolkit provides information to explain how companies can support the Week of Action campaign by engaging on their social channels. Suggested content for social posts with images and promotional ideas have been provided for each of the five days of activity, the themes of which include: safe roads; safe vehicles; safe speeds and safe road users.

Speaking of the toolkit, FORS Concession Director Ian Henderson said: “We wholeheartedly applaud Project EDWARD for the work they do in celebrating road safety schemes across the UK.  We know many of our accredited operators work hard to support road safety initiatives in their communities, so this gives them a chance to showcase some of those efforts.”

Henderson continued “The response to the toolkit so far has been fantastic, with more than 300 downloads in the first five days. We’d like to share the toolkit far and wide, so whether you’re part of the FORS community or not, please feel free to download the document to access some practical ideas and guidance.”

To further spread Project EDWARD’s message and raise awareness, the charity will be speaking at the FORS Annual Conference this year. The FORS Annual Conference is being held on the 2 November at the International Convention Centre Birmingham, with the theme being ‘Building a resilient FORS Community for the road ahead’.

Project EDWARD has been running since 2016 and each year runs a ‘Week of Action’ initiative. The campaign invites leaders in road safety to join a national road trip visiting those companies, schemes and individuals who are going above and beyond in their commitment to improving road safety. Project EDWARD then showcases these initiatives through a programme of daily broadcasts, webinars, social media content and media engagement activity.
